Laurie Phillips - Certified Equine Instructor/ Trainer
Laurie has 30+ years of experience in teaching, training, and competing - with numerous awards in Equitation, Dressage, and Jumping. She has shown horses at Devon, Wellington, Harrisburg, St. Clements, Skidmore and many others.
Laurie started her career riding with Andrea Evans, a Morvan Park graduate. Morvan Park has been known as the top equestrian college in the country. She continued her career with Neal Shapiro - Silver Medalist: 1972 Olympics in Open Jumping and went on to jump professionally until an injury encouraged her to pursue Dressage.
She then gained experience riding Dressage from her trainer: Rick Albertson - USDF Bronze & Silver Medalist. She has also ridden with numerous top clinicians including Janet Black, George Morrison, Kathy Connelly, Mary Howard, Jane Hannigan, Pat Parelli, and numerous others.
Laurie has owned and manage two stable facilities in the past - the second was also a breeding facility.
Currently, Laurie offers lessons to all ages (children & adults) and all levels (Beginners & Advanced). She also does freelance teaching and training in Ballston Spa and other facilities.
She teaches Natural Horsemanship techniques and has worked through Pat Parelli Techniques Level 1 but also teaches techniques by noted trainers: Monty Roberts and Clinton Anderson.
Laurie is experienced and certified in teaching children and adults with physical & emotional handicaps. She has a Bachelor's degree major in Psychology with a minor in equine studies. Since 2010, she sponsored a handicap program for Living Resources of Albany, NY.
